Wild Licorice Plant

Wild Licorice Plant

This particular species of licorice is new to us. We are excited because it is native (at least to Indiana and Pennsylvania, somehow not Ohio?) as well as being a pretty important plant to native peoples wherever it grew. This licorice like others in the genus has been used for food and medicine. I’m always excited to have a new nitrogen fixing useful plant to add to our gardens. Give full sun and well-drained soils.
Dry, FS, rhizomatous perennial
Glycyrrhiza lepidota
