This native perennial deciduous vine likes to grow in part shade in its wild habitat. It’s the source of an important medicine in the American Herbal repository and is traded as dried root around the globe as an anti-spasmatic and anti inflammatory. Give it a well-drained soil in part shade and it will thrive. Related to tropical edible yams. Male and female plants are required for seed, we don’t know which will be male or female as we start our plants from seed.
