Hairy Wild Petunia Plant

Hairy Wild Petunia Plant

This plant is so-named because the flowers look similar to the cultivated petunias we see at the garden center, they actually aren’t related at all. The purple flowers of the wild petunia are formed in the morning and fall off by evening. While this one definitely deserves a place in the flower garden it is a small plant at under 2 feet tall and requires pairing with other small plants to not get crowded out. Our local extension office has them planted in the front of a flower border to great effect.
