This native plant can be found growing as well in the woods as in the field. The name waterleaf comes from the blothcy markings on the leaf resembling water spots. Being in the borage family is has glorious flowers that are magnets for pollinators. It is also a nice edible having a mild flavor of cucumbers and spreading happily though not overly vigourous. It likes soils that don’t dry out so be aware that it may need some watering especially in it’s first year or growth.
